Prisoners to Island Nations...Not only Maldives

MIAMI -- First some freed Guantanamo captives went to Bermuda in the Atlantic. Later, others went to Palau in the Pacific.
Now it appears that the Obama administration is poised to send captives cleared for release from the remote prison camps in southeast Cuba to another island nation - the Maldives, in the Indian Ocean.
Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed used his Friday weekly radio address to defend his nation's decision to take in two as-yet unidentified detainees. He also discouraged opposition parties in the mostly Sunni Muslim nation from politicizing any future transfer.

  1. with or without assistance of the US these men shall be welcomed to the country with open arms. These are Muslims who are not known to have been associated with terrorism or violence. The opposition parties trying to make political capital out of this issue is very saddening and embarrassing for the country. After all this is one of the few so called 100% Islamic countries in the world which still does not feel the pain and suffering of fellow Muslims who endured years of injustice. The issue of US ultimately being responsible for their actions is completely another story because the US can afford to keep these innocent prisoners for their life because they are rich country. But do we empathize about the prisoners themselves? How can we call us Muslims and pray and eat and sleep while let our fellow Muslims suffer in the prisons of the kuffar? Why are not our hearts larger than that? Are we even meaner then the atheists and the others who disbelieve god yet who have compassion for the oppressed? Are we not supposed to be the similitude of an organ in a body which if it ails keep the whole body from sleep(a prophetic tradition)? Why are our aalims and sheikhs silent on this? MDP or DRP a good decision is a good one and a bad decision is a bad one. Both parties are tainted by mistakes but this move by MDP is a commendable one which deserves praise.
